A typical class consists of a period of quiet centering, and then we move onto limbering and stretching.

After this we do some posture (Asana) work. All the asanas have modifications so there is something for everyone. Towards the end we take things a bit slower and ease the asana work down to do some breathing practise (pranayama), occasionally we do a short meditation then finally there is a period of relaxation, which seems to be very popular!

There are many yoga asanas we do and all have various benefits, I include stretching and toning for the whole body with focus on a different area each week.

Strengthening the back and the releasing the hips is extremely important as it affects our everyday posture. I am always very aware through my own experience of working safely with the back.

Many physiotherapists will recommend you attend a yoga class if you suffer with back problems. I also touch on the philosophy and background of yoga; I can give you more information if you are interested in this side of yoga.

If you have a serious/ recent health problem or injury always consult a health professional before taking up any new exercise.
